Quickstart
Luwu lets you use the terminals on your own computers from your phone or from a browser. You install it on each computer you want to reach, then open that computer from the iPhone app or from app.luwu.dev.
1. Install on a computer
On a Mac or a Linux computer (on Windows, inside WSL):
curl -fsSL https://luwu.dev/install.sh | sh
The installer downloads the luwu binary for your system, checks its SHA-256 and puts it in ~/.luwu/bin. It also adds ~/.local/bin, where it links luwu, to your shell's PATH by adding one marked line to your shell's startup file (~/.zshrc, ~/.bashrc, …). Open a new terminal afterwards. Set LUWU_NO_MODIFY_PATH=1 to skip that step.
Luwu's terminals are tmux sessions, so the installer installs tmux too when it's missing (Homebrew on a Mac, your package manager on Linux). To do it yourself: brew install tmux, or sudo apt install tmux on Debian or Ubuntu.
2. Sign in
luwu
The first run asks for your email and sends a 6-digit code. A new email creates an account. Luwu then makes this computer reachable and starts a background service that keeps running after you close the terminal. Press q to leave the dashboard; the service stays up.
On a Linux server you reach over SSH, run this once so the service also keeps running after you log out:
loginctl enable-linger
3. Start your agents inside tmux
tmux new -s work
claude
Anything running in tmux is reachable: Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI, a build, a shell.
4. Open it on your phone or in a browser
- iPhone: install Luwu (TestFlight while it's in beta) and sign in with the same account. Tap your computer, then a window.
- Browser: go to app.luwu.dev and sign in with your email or Google. Pick a computer, a session, and a window; you can also start a new session there.
The first time a phone or browser connects to a computer, the computer waits for your approval. Approve it from a device that already has access, or on the computer itself: luwu devices shows what's waiting and luwu devices approve NAME lets it in. This is what keeps someone who only has your account password out of your computers.
5. Get notified when an agent needs you
luwu hooks install
Claude Code and Codex then notify your phone when they finish or wait for you. When Claude asks a question with options, or asks for permission, you can answer from the notification itself. Restart agents that were already running.
Limits
The Free plan has 1 computer, 2 terminal sessions per computer started through Luwu, and 2 phones or browsers. A session can hold any number of windows, and sessions you start yourself on the computer don't count. The plans add computers, sessions, the desktop and files.
